The rules that apply to this website, and how our quotes and work are handled.
These terms cover your use of the Earth Electrical NSW website. The electrical information published here is general guidance, not advice for your specific installation. Quotes are given after we inspect the job. Nothing on this page limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Who you are dealing with
This website is operated by Earth Electrical NSW (Matt Durkin), a licensed electrical contractor based in Lennox Head, New South Wales. Contact details are on the contact page. By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, don’t use the site.
The electrical information here is general
The service pages, suburb pages, FAQ and advice articles are written by a licensed electrician and are intended to be accurate, but they describe the general case. They are not an inspection of your property and they are not a substitute for having someone look at your installation. Every switchboard, cable run and roof space is different.
Do not use anything on this site as a basis for doing electrical work yourself. In New South Wales it is illegal for an unlicensed person to carry out most electrical work, and it is dangerous. If you have read something here and you are not sure how it applies to your place, call us on 0412 521 992 and ask.
Australian standards, regulations and prices change. We update pages when we notice something has gone out of date, but we can’t promise every page reflects the current position at the moment you read it.
Enquiries and quotes
Submitting the quote form or calling us starts a conversation — it doesn’t book a job and it doesn’t create a contract. We will get back to you, but we are a small operation and there are times we are booked out or a job is outside what we take on.
Any figure given over the phone or by email before we have seen the work is an estimate, not a quote. A quote is what we give you in writing once we know what is actually involved. Where a quote is given, it covers the scope described in it. Work found once we open up a wall, a switchboard or a ceiling — deteriorated wiring, no earthing, undersized cable, water damage — is not included, and we will talk to you about it before doing anything extra.

Urgent faults
The quote form is not monitored around the clock. If you have a burning smell, a hot or sparking outlet, exposed conductors, or any situation you think is a fire or shock risk, call 0412 521 992. If someone has been shocked or there is a fire, call 000 first. For a network problem — a fallen power line, or a blackout affecting the street — contact Essential Energy on 13 20 80.
The work itself
Work is carried out to AS/NZS 3000 and the relevant NSW requirements. Where new or altered wiring is involved, you are issued a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. Statutory warranties for residential building work in NSW apply to the work we do, in addition to any manufacturer warranty on the equipment installed. Terms specific to a job — scope, price, payment, access — are set out in the quote or invoice for that job, and those take precedence over this page.
Using this site
You may read, print and share these pages for your own purposes. The text, photographs, logo and page designs are ours (or licensed to us) and you may not republish them commercially, or use our name, logo or reviews to promote another business, without written permission.
Don’t attempt to interfere with the site, submit false enquiries, harvest content or contact details for marketing, or use automated tools in a way that degrades the site for anyone else.
Links to other sites
Where we link out — to Essential Energy, SafeWork NSW, a manufacturer, or our Google and social profiles — we don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or their handling of your information.
Availability
We aim to keep the site up but we don’t guarantee it is always available or error-free. It may be offline for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
Liability
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing here excludes, restricts or modifies those rights, or any other right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Beyond that, to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on the general information published on this website, and our liability for a failure that can be limited is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

We may update these terms. The version published on this page is the one that applies. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
