Power Points & Rewiring

Extra points where you need them, and full rewires where you need those.

Earth Electrical NSW installs power points and rewires homes across the Northern Rivers — additional and relocated outlets, USB and weatherproof points, new circuits, and full rewires of older houses with perished or unsafe cabling.

Houses built before the 2000s were wired for a fraction of the appliances we now run off them. Double adaptors and extension leads snaking under rugs are a sign the wiring has been outgrown, not that you need more adaptors.

What’s included

  • Additional and relocated power points
  • USB and USB-C combination outlets
  • Weatherproof external power points
  • Dedicated circuits for appliances, air con and workshops
  • Full and partial house rewiring
  • Old and unsafe cable replacement
  • Kitchen and bathroom renovation electrical

Adding points to an existing home

In most cases we can add outlets by picking up an existing circuit, provided the circuit has capacity. Where it does not, a new dedicated circuit from the board is the correct fix — and it is not as disruptive as people expect.

When a house needs rewiring

Rubber or fabric-insulated cable, black round TPS, no earth on lighting circuits or recurrent insulation faults all point to a rewire. We stage it room by room where you need to keep living in the house.

Power Points & Rewiring questions

How much does it cost to add a power point?

It depends on distance from an existing circuit and access above the ceiling or under the floor. A straightforward addition on the same wall is quick; a run to the far side of a slab-on-ground home takes longer. We quote before starting.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Fabric or rubber-insulated cable, a fuse board with no earth on lighting, frequent unexplained tripping, or a house that has never been rewired since the 1970s are all strong indicators. An insulation resistance test settles it.

Do walls have to be cut open to rewire?

Not usually all of them. We run new cable through roof and floor cavities wherever access allows, with targeted patching only where there is no other route.
