EV Charger Installation
Home and workplace EV chargers, assessed and installed properly.
Earth Electrical NSW installs home and workplace EV chargers across the Northern Rivers. We assess your switchboard capacity and supply, install a dedicated circuit to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3012, and commission the unit. Most single-phase home installs are completed in half a day.
An EV charger is not a power point. It is a continuous high-current load that runs for hours at a time, usually overnight, on a circuit that has to be dedicated and protected properly. Done right it is boring and reliable, which is exactly what you want.
What’s included
- Switchboard and supply capacity assessment
- Dedicated EV circuit and RCD protection
- Wall-mounted charger installation, all major brands
- Single-phase and three-phase installations
- Workplace and multi-bay installations
- Load management and solar-aware charging setup
- Commissioning, app setup and handover
The load assessment comes first
Before anything is quoted we check what your supply and switchboard can actually carry. Adding a 32A charger to a board already close to capacity is how people end up with nuisance tripping — or worse.
Single-phase or three-phase
Most Northern Rivers homes are single-phase, which supports up to 7kW charging — enough to fully charge overnight for almost every driver. Three-phase supply allows up to 22kW where the vehicle supports it.

EV Charger Installation questions
How long does it take to install an EV charger at home?
A straightforward single-phase installation on a garage wall near the switchboard usually takes three to five hours. Longer cable runs, switchboard upgrades or three-phase work can extend it to a full day.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard for an EV charger?
Sometimes. Older boards without main-switch RCD protection or with no spare capacity often need an upgrade. We confirm this during the site assessment so it is in the quote rather than a surprise.
Can I charge from my solar system?
Yes. Several chargers support solar-aware charging that draws only excess generation, or a set blend of solar and grid. We configure this at commissioning.
