Lighting Design & Installation

LED downlights, pendants and feature lighting that suits the room.

Earth Electrical NSW designs and installs interior lighting across the Northern Rivers — LED downlights, pendants, feature and architectural lighting, dimming and smart control. We advise on beam angle, colour temperature and layout so a room is lit well, not just lit brightly.

Lighting is the difference between a room you like being in and a room you leave. Too many houses get a grid of cold downlights and nothing else. We would rather spend twenty minutes on layout and colour temperature first.

What’s included

  • LED downlight installation and halogen replacement
  • Pendant and feature light installation
  • Dimmers and multi-zone switching
  • Strip and cabinet lighting
  • High-ceiling and void installations
  • Smart lighting and app control
  • Lighting plans for new builds and renovations

Getting the layout right

Downlight spacing, beam angle and colour temperature do more for a room than the fitting itself. Warm 3000K over living areas, tighter beams to wash a wall, and separate switching so you are not running every light to read one book.

Feature and pendant lighting

Pendants over an island, a statement fitting in a void, strip lighting under a bench or stair. We handle the heavy and awkward installs — high ceilings, voids and existing plaster included.

Lighting Design & Installation questions

How many downlights do I need in a room?

As a rough starting point, allow one 8–10W LED downlight per 2 to 2.5 square metres of living space, adjusted for ceiling height and wall colour. We work it out per room rather than applying a formula across the house.

Should I choose warm white or cool white?

Warm white (2700–3000K) suits bedrooms and living areas; neutral white (4000K) works in kitchens, laundries and garages. Mixing temperatures within one open-plan space is the most common mistake we get called in to fix.

Can you replace halogen downlights with LED?

Yes, and it is one of the best-value jobs we do. LED replacements cut running costs substantially, run far cooler than halogens and remove a genuine ceiling-space fire risk.
