Ceiling Fan & Exhaust Fan Installation

Ceiling fans, DC fans and bathroom exhausts installed and balanced.

Earth Electrical NSW installs ceiling fans and exhaust fans across the Northern Rivers — DC and AC ceiling fans, outdoor-rated fans for decks and patios, and bathroom exhaust fans with proper ducting to outside rather than into the roof space.

In a subtropical climate a good ceiling fan does more for comfort per dollar than anything else in the house. The difference between a fan you love and one you never turn on is almost always the mounting and the balancing.

What’s included

  • AC and DC ceiling fan installation
  • Outdoor and coastal-rated fans for decks and patios
  • Fan and light combination units
  • Remote and wall control setup
  • Bathroom and laundry exhaust fans, ducted externally
  • Replacement of old or noisy fans
  • Fan-rated mounting and bracing

DC versus AC fans

DC motor fans use around 65 percent less power, run noticeably quieter, and typically offer six speeds and a remote. They cost more upfront and are worth it in any room you sit in.

Exhaust fans done properly

A bathroom exhaust that vents into the roof cavity moves the moisture problem rather than solving it. We duct to an external vent so the humidity actually leaves the building.

Ceiling Fans & Exhaust Fans questions

Can a ceiling fan be installed where there is only a light?

Usually yes, provided the ceiling structure can be braced to carry the load. A fan needs a fan-rated mounting fixed to a joist or an added noggin — an existing batten holder alone is not sufficient.

Why is my ceiling fan wobbling?

Almost always an unbalanced blade set, loose mounting, or a bent blade bracket. It is usually correctable with balancing and re-tightening rather than replacement.

Are DC ceiling fans worth the extra cost?

In bedrooms and living areas, yes. They are quieter, use far less power, and offer finer speed control. In a rarely used room an AC fan is fine.
