Earth Electrical NSW installs underground mains and sub-mains across the Northern Rivers — supply to sheds, studios, granny flats and new dwellings, including trenching, conduit, cable sizing for voltage drop, and pit and pillar work on rural properties.
Running power to a shed 80 metres from the house is not a matter of finding a long enough cable. Voltage drop, depth of cover, conduit and protection all have to be right, and it is buried afterwards where nobody can inspect it.

Cable sizing and voltage drop
Over long runs the voltage arriving at the far end can drop below what equipment needs. We calculate the run and size the cable for it, which on rural blocks often means a larger conductor than people expect.
Trenching and reinstatement
We machine-trench to the required depth, lay conduit and warning tape, and backfill and reinstate. Under driveways and paving we sleeve so future work does not mean digging up the concrete.

Underground Mains & Trenching questions
How deep does an underground electrical cable need to be?
Under AS/NZS 3000, consumer mains in conduit generally require a minimum 500mm of cover in ordinary ground, increasing to 600mm or more under driveways and roadways. Depth depends on cable type and protection.
Can you run power to a shed a long way from the house?
Yes. Long runs are routine on acreage here — the key is sizing the cable for voltage drop over the distance and installing correct protection at both ends.
Do you do the digging as well?
Yes. We machine-trench, lay and backfill as part of the job, and coordinate service location before breaking ground.
